Based in Miami, Studio 36 is a design studio founded by Thomas Tovar. The studio works across Architecture and Interiors - shaped by Miami's particular tensions between spectacle and substance. Parallel to design commissions, Thomas is a professor at Florida International University.
Studio 36 moves between theory and practice. In exploratory work, the studio uses design as a tool to investigate ideas and perceptions, translating abstract thinking into spatial form. In commissioned projects, we translate those same principles into environments shaped by the needs and perspective of the client.
